[BSV Perspective] Five Core Elements for a Trustless Currency System The five core elements that must be met to fulfill the promise of a peer-to-peer (P2P) cash system without intermediaries are the immutability of the protocol, the seizure resistance of the system, the full accessibility of transactions, the freedom for self-sovereignty, and the orthogonality of competition.

• Immutability of Protocol: The currency system's protocol must be immutable. This means the system's rules cannot be modified for the benefit of a privileged class or factional interests, ensuring that competition remains a fair meritocracy. Protocol mutability quickly becomes a political tool, undermining fairness and being abused as a mechanism for redistribution.
• Seizure Resistance: The system must not be easily centralized or controlled for the purpose of regulation, coercion, or theft. An increase in intermediaries (e.g., exchanges, custodial trusts) leads to the centralization of custody, concentrates failure modes, and weakens the system's seizure resistance. A trustless system minimizes reliance by design, thus eliminating the possibility of control.
• Full Accessibility of Transactions: There should be no artificial limits on the system's throughput. Limiting throughput acts as a political weapon beyond a technical metric, increasing transaction costs, turning the market into an auction, and excluding the poor. Full accessibility provides the foundation for every individual to directly hold, move, and settle value without discrimination, preventing the formation of a tiered economy.
• Freedom of Unmediated Transaction: The freedom for individuals to transact immediately and without intermediaries is the core of realizing individual self-sovereignty. When this freedom is restricted, ownership is replaced by custody, privacy withers, and the system's resilience is replaced by manipulability. True security stems directly from this freedom of seizure resistance and accessibility.
• Censorship Resistance - Harmony with the Rule of Law: Censorship resistance serves as the technical foundation ensuring that no party can arbitrarily block transactions within the system. However, this does not imply a lawless zone that transcends the law. Technology acts as a censorship-resistant shield that preserves the system's neutrality, while the law serves as the standard of justice that holds individuals accountable for the consequences of their transactions. In other words, under the principle that "the law supersedes code," relief through legitimate legal processes is an essential social safety net that completes the system's trust; this is a true digital rule of law that does not contradict technical censorship resistance.
• Orthogonality of Competition: Competition must remain within the technical/market realm, succeeding or failing on its own merits, rather than the political realm of changing the currency system's rules. Instead of forming factional coalitions to change the rules, competition must occur in parallel (orthogonally) to the system, irrespective of the rules' mutability.
