Unusual start to my day

Awoke late around 7:00 am to find the house quiet. Wim had taken Lucia and Sophia to the mountain to look for mushrooms.

The trio returned around 8am, the two dogs wet, hot and tired. Wim was excited, she had found about a dozen highly prized Termite Mushrooms 🍄

One of our dogs Lucia likes to chase chickens that live in the mountains.

Today Lucia caught and killed her first chicken 🐓

Wim relayed the story, Lucia had quickly ran up the mountain as she does, after a commotion a Thai man walked down with a bag of mushrooms and a dead chicken 🐓

He was on his way home, a small wooden shack close by. He explained to Wim and other mushroom foragers that he has tried many times to trap the mountain chickens but with no success.

Today he watched Lucia chase the chicken and waited quietly until the battle was over. He then approached Lucia and took the chicken.

He offered Wim the chicken as is customary if the dog has an owner and she politely declined.

With a big smile he went off home early to prepare the chicken for dinner and to sell the mushrooms.

A dog that can catch mountain chickens is highly regarded in Thailand, the question if Lucia could go home with him was aired. Wim explained that Lucia gets hot running in the mountains and loves air-conditioning and a bed or sofa when she returns home. The man jokinglyreplied that his shack had none of the comforts Lucia had become accustomed to.

The foragers continued foraging and the man left early with his mushrooms and chicken dinner asking what time Lucia would be back tomorrow 😁

Today was his lucky day, not so lucky for the chicken 🐓
